Over the last 12 years I have worked continuously with Sumlock as a supplier in three businesses in which I have been employed. Nine years were whilst I was IT Operations Manager at Reg Vardy plc where Sumlock provided the installation and support for all our cabling infrastructure. For many years including prior to my joining the company we purchased Sumlock built and branded PC’s latterly using tier one products (Compaq & Dell) in the last three of four years. Over the years their engineers have been involved in some significant large scale rollouts including a single project to roll out 1500 PC’s installed throughout the UK in 100 dealerships for a new showroom system. This project was a significant success and required the highest level of integration and interoperation with my own technical team. Sumlock also supplied and maintained all our central severs (IBM) based in the Head Office at Doxford Park and DR facility based at Houghton le Spring. Due to our seven day a week operation and extended working hours we had a support contract which covered our full opening hours including weekends and provided us with a 2 hour response and 4 hour fix, and key spares were located on site to allow this response to be met. In respect of the above services, Sumlock were sole supplier.

In my subsequent role at Peter Vardy Ltd as Group IT Manager I engaged Sumlock to provide infrastructure installation, support and PC supply along with all central Head Office based servers (IBM) and a bespoke contract for support was also provided for these servers.

I am now Group IS Manager at Benfield Motor Group where Sumlock are currently supplying Lenovo PC’s and support the recently supplied server hardware for our Virtual Server environment at both our Head Office and DR location. Sumlock are now sole supplier for infrastructure cabling, both CAT5/6 and fibre, across the group and other areas of IT business are being transferred to Sumlock as and when appropriate.

Having used the services of several significantly larger support organisations I have no hesitation in moving services of supply and maintenance to Sumlock as I find from my own experience I obtain and enjoy a better fit and service level than that which I have endured with a number of other suppliers. When things really matter and an urgent situation arises I have the confidence that the company will do all it can, often over and above that which may be reasonably expected, to resolve the situation. I have also enjoyed the ability to communicate effectively and easily with all levels of the business from reception through to the highest level of management. In view of the above I remain a customer of Sumlock and have no hesitation in doing so, nor would I in any future role I find myself.
